Re: [RC] trailer - Adelia85

In pricing a trailer, look at the EBAY for completed sales on trailers as well as those auctions which are close to finish.  Note how many bids are on what trailers, the location, the comparable features etc. This may give you a number of trailer comparatives.  Trailers in far places may not price the same as those near more populated areas.  Those trailers with a lot of bids one could surmise are a popular style, brand, location, condition.  Those trailers with few bids may be perfectly good but not a good location or not well described.

You could also check Tacktrader.com to see what their prices are but keep in mind you will only see the opening price range.  All prices are negotiable from those listings.  I sold my two horse BP there six months ago in two weeks with no price reduction.  It was fairly priced and well described.

Hope this helps.

Hm....Sooner's are good trailers.....

I sold a 4 horse all aluminum 1999 Silverado stock trailer (fit 5 horses),
bumper pull, built
to my specs., ( had removable tack room wall, hay rack, extra tie rings),
ladder
for $11,000.  Mine had been well maintained, a few boo boo's, but very solid
trailer.

The Sooner sounds a bit high to me...being almost 10 years old.

Subject: [RC] trailer

We have a chance to buy a 1995 Sooner 4 horse stock trailer with a
walkin tack room.  It is in excellent condition and is really what we
have been looking for.  The trailer is a bumper pull and a gooseneck is
not an option for us as we have a brand new camper on our 1 ton Dodge
diesel.  The asking price on this trailer is $13,500 and we have offered
$12,000.  I'm wondering if this is a fair price?  If I ordered this
trailer new it would be $18,000.  Och!  Any thoughts?  Is there such a
thing as a "Blue Book" on used trailers?   Mary S.
