[RC] sponging - shgerbey

what's the best way to get a horse used to sponging?  'bout
got killed at the Liberty Run at one of the water barrels...
figured my nice quite Arab would just stand like all the
other guys did.  NOT!!! did a version of  the statue of the
cowboys horse that comes up on the rattlesnake on the trail
and jumps sideways with all four feet off the ground.  boy
was I ever so lucky that I didn't have that thing tied to my
saddle! after about 3 sideways lunges I'm like DUH! why
don't I just drop the thing...any help at all will be
greatly appreciated!
