Angie suggested putting water on her horse's neck from her water bottle.  
Wonderful advice.  I would like to add to it by saying it is most effective if 
there is a slight breeze if you put  it on the side of the neck that the breeze 
is going to hit.  If the breeze is blowing right to left, put it on the right 
side.  If left to right, put it on the left side. The cooling effect will be
