After doing the first hot ride of the season this
year my mare got heat bumps , I assumed it was from pulling the saddle to quick
when she was hot but I have never had this problem before on a horse doing this
. Then I went to the next ride and we had to pull our saddles for the vet check
and danged if she didn't get them again only not quite as bad as the first time
. They are completely gone in about a day and a half , I asked a ride vet about
them but he had no clue as to what caused them . I use a Dixie midnight pad with
a woolback on top of that , at the first ride I did not have my Dixie pad on so
thought maybe that was the reason I got them but did use it for the second ride
and still got them but not quite as bad . Any idea's or suggestions on how to
avoid these ?
