[RC] was Paragon Saddle - now Indian made - Chris Paus

India made saddles are not necessarily a bad thing.
It's like everything else in the world. There are good
ones and cheapo ones.

I got a $300 paragon knock off made in India. Wasn't a
regency, don't remember the name brand. It was really
well built. Had a good tree, etc. Got it for my
husband.

It fit our Morgan-Saddlebred cross perfectly and was a
real pleasure to ride in on trails.

It had a funky smell though. I took it to my local
saddler to have it checked over. He said it was
constructed very well and that the funky smell was the
leather... it was made of water buffalo hide! He said
it should last forever.

After a few cleanings, the smell went away. I really
liked that saddle. Sold it when we sold the horse as
the saddle didn't fit my Arabs.

Thanks Libby. Glad I asked about "recently
manufactured" - I have since read about
the Campbell Paragons being great, but didn't know
the Regency was made in India.
I've read about and seen some pretty poorly made
saddles from there. This one was
listed as $500 new, and that sure didn't seem right
for a well-made leather saddle.
