Re: [RC] re: public image of the Arabian horse - heidiAHA gives plenty of support for the Discovery Farm program. I also signed up for it and people who stop by the AHA website are given my name as a place to visit and I'm sent an email from AHA stating that this person has expressed interest. I am then given their name and contact info, size of their group and when they hope to come visit. If they don't contact me on their own, I contact them and have met many newcomers to the breed this way. AHA not only sent me the sign, they sent me tons of brochures and pamphlets about the Arabian to hand out. How much more do you want them to do? Shuttle people to your door? Maybe you're just in an area that doesn't have any interest in Arabians and that's why you've never received any response and it's not AHA's fault at all. The Discovery Farm idea is one of their better ones. But I'm not at all sure I want the brochures they hand out--I'd rather hand out pics from an endurance ride or a CTR, or some of the stuff that came out of groups like ASHAI (the Arabian sport horse people). Additionally, at the risk of repeating myself, it is getting the horses OUT in public that drums up the interest in the first place, that would make people even WANT to come to a Discovery Farm--and I agree with you, Rae, it isn't AHA's fault if THAT doesn't happen! Training/conditioning is one of the best tools available. It makes us better horseman and women, it benefits our horses and could quite possibly be the key to preventing most crashes. ~ Lisa Salas - The Odd Farm ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ============================================================
