I don’t understand why anybody would
even dare to loudly scold ANYBODY for letting their horse drink. In this
sport, getting a horse to drink and keep its hydration proper, can be a crucial
challenge to some. In my opinion, if anybody has anything to say about
it, they should wait until the horse has finished drinking, or do it in a way
that does not disturb the horse during that time. And for common courtesy,
why does the whole world need to know about it anyways? I have rightfully been
scolded for sponging my horse out of a drinking trough. I did it without
thinking, apologized right away and moved on. But I felt really
embarrassed because the person doing the scolding just thought she’d have
to let the whole world know. Somehow I guess she thought that I was
def. Go figure.
Sorry to hear your horse got pulled.
Unfortunately, your incidence is a perfect example why horses should NOT be
disturbed when drinking. Who knows, had he finished his drink in piece,
perhaps he would have stayed healthy enough to remain in the ride. Really
sorry to hear that.

I was the rider who was loudly
scolded for letting my horse drink out of the water trough (into which water
from the creek was being pumped). It was at Fitchett's.
Interestingly, he had already sucked
up water from that trough two other times within the preceding hour. My
gelding had been pulled from the ride due to poor hydration, and for some
reason he wouldn't drink out of a bucket. So I took him back over to the
trough again. He never got that third drink.

I DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY A RIDER WAS
LOUDLY BEING SCOLDED FOR LETTING HER HORSE DRINK OUT OF ONE OF THE WATER TUBS
AT THE 2ND HOLD.
I HAVE BEEN AT RIDES WHERE THAT IS ALL
