[RC] [RC] Tailing - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Nicole z_arabs@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I was wondering.....How does one "learn" to tail correctly? Depends on your horse. I have a tendency to teach something like that by getting off and just doing it. But, I have horses who trust me and in many cases I bred, raised, and trained them, so the relationship is pretty secure. I was told people did this in LDs...but have yet to see it or do it I did it at one LD where I got some pretty odd looks from others riding the LD. Granted, the hill wasn't tough and could easily have been ridden up, but I was there to teach the mare long-term stuff. I figured it was better to do it on that LD where it wasn't "necessary," and have her ready later when it might be more important. Although, now that you mention that and I think about it, I can only recall seeing one or two people on LDs tailing. If you move to 50s you'll probably see it a lot more, and you won't get the weird looks either. ;) And, NO, this is NOT "LD bashing." I like LDs. I'm only reporting what I've SEEN on LDs, and I've only done a couple of them myself so it's not exactly worlds of experience. :) ~Nicole (a lifetime of riding; 5 LDs with 2 pulls; 5 50s with no pulls; take that how you will) ============================================================ Many of the endurance riders in our top echelons of competition, now and in the past, exemplify the 'common man' not the hierocracy. It is this possibility, this chance to come to the fore, that makes endurance competition of the Aussie/American type so much more desirable to part of the world. ~ Bob Morris ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ============================================================
