Re: [RC] Still on breeeding ............ - heidiPigeon toes -6I was looking at one of the top horses in the U.S.A...a horse that had won National top 100 mile award, traveled internationally, etc. etc. and commented that I was surprised his rider had chosen a horse that was pigeon toed and given him a chance. RO Grand Sultan ("Rio") was pigeon-toed. But he was also one of the few durn-near-perfect three-circle horses in terms of body balance going. I'll take minor leg faults over body faults ANY day!! ...how's about breeding the horses that stay sound? Seems like all the breeders I talk to take the horses that go lame young and retire them to breeding while the people that have a wonderfully sound horse never want to take it out of their riding string long enough to breed it. :-( Not just soundness--but riding qualities in general! Too many of the really GOOD mares are never bred because they are so nice to ride. <sigh> Those are the very ones that NEED to be bred... (At least I can ride the stallions and breed them too!)
