[RC] CMK breeding - Arabs4sprt

I have some terrific mares, they are 100% CMK, 100% early American
Foundation, wonderful Shalimar and Asil bloodlines, with a little Al-Marah too.
They
are 60% *Raffles/50%Skowronek, all the great old names. To the people who were
talking about these bloodlines dying out, yes it is a shame but the reason is
that there are no buyers who want to spend anything resembling real money for
them. Right now I have two gorgeous 3 year old Arabian/Oldenburgs out of my
CMK mares, one of these just won the Champion Half-Arabian Sport Horse Mare
title at Scottsdale (the only titles worth anything at Scottsdale are in the
Working Western, Jumping, and Dressage/Sport Horse divisions). Sport Horse
quality judged by a USDF Sport Horse Breeding judge! I haven't been able to
sell
her or her nearly full sister. I'm advertising on the AHA website and
Dreamhorse as well as other places, and asking only 10K and 8.5K each, I've had
one
low-ball offer in the last year that's it. A few years ago you couldn't get
near
these beauties for less than 15 to 20K. Even at the prices I'm asking now I
won't break even. I want to breed purebreds and have in the past but I can't
even get 5K for a purebred in southern AZ. I'm afraid that most people are
just unwilling to pay what it costs to keep us breeding really good quality
horses. That's the reason these gems are being lost. I've had my farm name on
the endurance net as a breeder of CMK horses for at least 8 years, and while
this is a well-attended website precious few have even contacted me. Only one
has actually come out to see the horses. These are truly good horses! You
won't find any better! If you want CMK horses then there has to be someone
willing to pay money to those that are putting them on the ground. I'm
debating
having to get out of breeding altogether because I can't even make back my
costs. I don't want to. I want to breed and sell good horses to people who
will
love them. Just my two cents.
