[RC] re:clipping aussies - A. PerezOf course! I don't think the Aussie Police would get on you unless you took him to a show or trial clipped ;-) I have read all sorts of eye-wash about how one should not clip aussies in the summer because their fur 'insulates' then from the heat. Nonsense! Try wearling a nice fluffy angora sweater on a 90 degree day and see what 'insulation' it provides. My beloved (and sadly departed) aussie Harley hated the heat and was totally miserable until he got shaved each summer. His coat was very thick, and he would patiently stand, no caller, no leash, the 2+ hours it took to shear him. Last summer I took it a bit too short, and he had to wear a sweater for the first couple of weeks... Oops! So shave away - as long as there is enough left to protect against sun-burn, you'll be fine. Short hair also makes tick-detection much easier. ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag ============================================================ The whole ride experience can be very hard, and at times you question why you put yourself through such abuse. It's just you and your horse and for a moment time stops and you can hear the angels sing. Therein lies the addiction, at least for me. ~ Leslie Beyers ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ============================================================
