[RC] 100 mile point of view--If I have too - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Jody Rogers-Buttram jody.buttram@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Well, Since I have had my name put on the list, now I have to pay the debt and officially post. I guess one of the biggest changes in doing 100 milers now and doing them back in the stone age would be how much different you feel as you age and continue this sport. Back in 1979 when I started, I would feel great after riding, finish and go play ( I was a jr.). Now lets see, 25 years later and a lot of miles, I have to have the Prescription pain pills and Wild Turkey to get through. But it is still as much fun, just harder to get on the horse now. My daughter is riding and she is almost 10. She gets off at the vet checks and runs and plays and then jumps back on the horse. If I could just get her to work thru the checks. :) We are off to Liberty Run---if I-20 allows it this weekend for the 3-day 150 and our driver/mechanic/pit crew daddy isn't going. So, I guess she is going to get her chance to crew herself after all. See ya'll in Augusta for the hot weekend! Jody, Joni and the girls--Love,Rose, Aries and Gypsy ===========================================================The very essence of our sport is doing the trail as quickly as practicable, while keeping one's horse fit to continue. Taking the clock out of the equation makes it another sport altogether. The challenge is how to keep the sport what it is while honing our skills (both as riders and as those in control roles) in detecting where "the edge" is for each horse so that we don't cross it. ~ Heidi Smith ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ===========================================================
