Re: [RC] Spike in Heart Rate - Maryanne Stroud GabbaniI dunno.I think that we can better that one with a sight that Steph and Jackie saw here on our way to Dahshur one day....three camels on a pack line and each one carrying a load of about 100 enormous palm branches. The load was so enormous for each one that they had to carry their heads really low, so with the palm fronds waving about 10 feet behind each camel they looked like a line of exotic birds. I think that even my horses, who have pretty much seen everything and deal with everything (except probably running water...don't see so much of that) would have been taken aback. Otherwise loaded people and animals are pretty much ok. The first time a horse goes through a village and sees the women with bundles and pots on their heads and babies perched on one shoulder walking along, it is a bit of a show-stopper. The donkeys loaded with about a meter of berseem and a boy perched on top get a good look until they become old hat. For us, the interesting thing is that the donkeys, camels, cows and water buffalo see so few horseback riders that they TOTALLY freak out. I think most of my herd would find a backpacker pretty easy.
