You have to get out on the trail and work on it. The horse also has a lot to learn to be balanced with the footing changing and strange maneuvers to get down the trail. Ed All true, Ed, but the dressage foundation of weekly lessons I've put on my last two horses has made a huge difference in my ability to balance them and me on the trail. I also have some control...a major issue in some endurance horses!
