Nothing more - nothing less. The biggest problem with list is the ease a which comments are completely stripped out of their context. Well, that question is very easily answered. It is both. Just as endurance rides are multi-faceted events, where some people ride for the challenge of the trail, others for the camaraderie, others for the beauty, others for the race, and other personal goals, the same is true of LD rides. Some people ride LD's as training or preparation for endurance rides, some ride them for other goals with no intention of moving on to endurance. There is nothing wrong with that. As for the competition part, though, the different nature of the shorter distance requires a different form of competition, which accounts for the differences in format (such as pulse-down time for finish time, and not giving points for placing). -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com ============================================================ One would think that logic would prevail.
