Re: [RC] FDA Warning Letter to Fort Dodge - heidiWe had some severe reactions to Fort Dodge when administered by one vet, but very few with my own vet, who immunized over 500 horses. I am no vet, but I agree that application is as important to bad reactions as content. Yep. And I forgot to mention that with IM vaccines, the more reactive adjuvant is particularly an issue if the vaccines are administered in areas with insufficient muscle mass. (Such as the neck--an all-too-common site for vaccine administration, and frequently very "iffy" with regard to sufficient muscle to support the injection.) Some of the worst reactions I ever had to deal with were from Pneumabort K (indeed a Fort Dodge product) administered by clients themselves in horses' necks. Got them to switch to the pecs, and although they would still sometimes get a big swelling, at least the horses would be relatively comfortable. (The ones with reactions in the necks often had severe difficulty eating or drinking for several days, unless one fed them with a hay net and had an elevated water bucket so they did not have to bend at all to eat or drink.)
