[RC] wet foods - Scott Johnson

I was reading the post about pushing wet foods and I have a question.

I have a Shagya mare who can't eat beet pulp. I know it's not supposed to
happen, but it makes her really hyper/fidgety and she doesn't act right.
I've experimented with it several times and it's not my imagination--she
really can't eat beet pulp.

So, what can I feed as a "wet feed" I wondered if this would be a good
place to give her some senior made into a wet feed or something else. Thanks.

Hi Alice,

I recently had to temporarily stop feeding beet pulp to my senior mare, and just feed All-in-One and Equine Senior (normally I feed equal portions of all three feeds). If you let is sit for 15-20 minutes after putting water on it, you'll be surprised at how much water is absorbed. I used warm water, as I was trying to make the feed as soft as possible (she's 27 and her teeth are worn to the gums, so no hay for her). I imagine this would work with any pelleted feed, if you didn't want to use senior.
