Pleas forgive spelling of breeds mine somewhat phynetic and even spell check
cannot help !!

I have a 10 lbs chiwawa Terrier mix that will go 20 miles any time, and keep
up with my trotting horses.  She has been doing it since a pup, and has
continued till now at about age 10.  Her even smaller pup. did as well (half
miniature poodle  but at age 4 was eaten by the local Mountain lion.

Now we have a 3 month old 3 -4 lbs pomerian/shishitsu a four month old
walker and black and tan hound, and I expect them to do as well.  Of course
all the Dalmatians,Australian Shepard mixes, a Springer spaniel,  have done
equally as well.  Never problems with the dog not staying with you or
keeping up.

But we do not race them we just ride and train with them.  They also do not
go off with other horses or dogs met along the trails.

The hard part is finding a place where both horses and dogs are permitted
