==========================================

I think RRs are the best dogs I've ever had--especially around the horses.
Mine move quietly among the horses around the barn, but can keep up on a 20+
mile training ride over rough country, and love being with and watching over
their people and animal companions. Some of the American show dogs are quite
large and heavy, but the standard calls for a very athletic, moderately sized
dog. My dogs are 25-27" tall and weigh 70-85lbs. I like to have them along
when I ride young horses out by themselves. It accustoms the horses to
movement all around them and makes them less spooky if a rabbit or bird happens
to flush out under their noses. The herding dogs I've had in the past were
fine to ride with, but were too busy at home-herding the horses around and
trying to keep the kids in the yard! They were much happier working on a
cattle ranch...
Ridgebacks are also happy sleeping at your feet when you're reading Ridecamp.
