Re: [RC] [RC] Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dogs - Typef

Thanks. Yes, I'm familier with foster homes. My daughter has worked for
Animal Friends Connection for 4 years before moving off to college. I,
myself, have fostered a ton of kittens for them. I would consider a foster
home through this organization but they are entirely stretched to the max in
the dog foster area so I feel it would be unfair of me to ask when she has a
spot here for the time being. And you're right, I would never consider a
shelter.

Jackie, I hope you find a good home for this dog but, given your
description, you might also consider starting NOW to investigate
foster/rescue in case push comes to shove. Your home doesn't sound like a
good match for this dog, but it *is* a good home. A shelter, even a good
one, would be worse for this dog, I think, not that it sounds like you're
even "going there". I work with foster/rescue groups and can tell you that
the dogs that go through fostering are evaluated very carefully and placed
very carefully. It doesn't take long to bond with a dog and foster families
place every dog as if it was their own!

Also, don't discount the resiliency of a rescued dog. They seem to have a
way of being especially adorable -- they seem to know how to act grateful!
It's hard to give one up or to even see that a potential new situation is a
good one.

Good luck!

Deanna
