Interesting to see that the posts
so far agreeing with Becky's post are all from the West region. I'm also from
the West region and I don't agree. AERC LD BC is awarded in almost every region
except the West and PS regions, with a few exceptions. Not one person has been
able to show why the system works just fine in all of the other regions, but
will not work here in the West & PS. Why is the West & PS so
different? Depending on where and what time of the year a ride is held, the
terrain and weather can be the same as in every other region. What makes the
West & PS the exception to the rule? Some of the other regions have been
using the AERC form for LD BC for quite a few years. Some of these other regions
have associations which give year end awards to their LD riders, and horror of
horrors, actually use weight and/or placement for some of these awards. I truly
believe this is a mind set of some West & PS ride managers and some
vets. The West and PS aren't any different than the rest of the
country. Let's have some consistency between regions. Isn't this what AERC
is about? A level playing field for all riders, all distances, all
regions?
