Re: [RC] [RC] ...anyone can take any horse and do 25 miles in 6 hours..... - heidiHow about replacing the word "anyone" with the word "a good horseman/woman". I think a knowledgeable or skilled horse person (I don't just mean experienced in endurance) could get just about any horse through a 25 mile ride if the ride conditions were not extreme. That, and a horse that is healthy and sound. Barbara may have been exaggerating a bit, but the basic premise is true. The thing to think about is "can" and "should"--two different concepts. This line of thinking is NOT implying that anyone "should." But--that is one more thing that separates 25s from 50s--although this has been occasionally done on 50s, I daresay that those (both horse and rider) who could accomplish that are few and far between, whereas those (both horse and rider) who can do this on 25 are not at all unusual.
