I just checked the AERC webpage and did see anything about the history of AERC. Does such a thing exist? If not, maybe some of the more experienced riders from the beginning could write down some of the history and of course the stories are always wonderful. Howard may not be the brightest light bulb on the tree, <vbg> but, if he did not know the sequence of events then who else is missing important information. At some point, it will be hard for current BOD members to draw on the insightful wisdom from past leaders.
