[RC] Riding at night--Carolina Moonlight - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

This was a great ride for me last year--our first 50. My friends from my first
and only LD were there and gave me a long look when I said I was doing the 50.
Gulp. But it turned out great. First loop was in daylight, and at the speed I
was going, dusk set in the vet check. Second loop getting dark. Third loop in
a full moon, wide open sandy trails reflecting back the light (repeat of first
loop). Last loop repeat of second. In the daylight it would drive you nuts,
but it was the best idea at night. NOT ONE BUG THE WHOLE NIGHT. To me, that
took the cake, as the deer and horse flies are so relentless in the summer in
the SE. I saw JD at the Sandhills Stampede, and I think he said it would be 31
July? I had a great time on this ride, and it was the calmest my guy Lippy
ever was at the start, could it be the 75 degrees at 7pm instead of 35 degrees
at 6am?  Come on down!
