Re: [RC] questions! - Chris PausOkay... I've posted about the ride, now more questions. A whole list of them! ;) First of all: how do you sleep at night before the ride? What do you do with your horses? I am looking for alternatives to sleeping in the bed of the truck and just tying... I started out in a tent.. ugh, booo hissss... hate tents.. Angie is right.. I went through one big rainstorm in my tent and that was my last tent experience! I then found a truck topper, simple style cover, for my truck for $200. That served me for 5 years. I put a twin bed mattress in the truck bed. Had a really cozy sleeping bag. It worked pretty well. Kept a "potty bucket" in the trailer. My brother gave me a very simple survival style cooker that I used to warm up water for tea, heat soup, etc. Then two years ago, my DH finally decided that I was going to do this sport no matter what, so he bought me a used RV. It's a 28 footer, sleeps 5, AC, heat, kitchen, refrig, bathroom, etc... It's an older one, we paid only $6,500 for it, but it's fabulous! I call in the Hilton~! As for the horses, I started out tying them to the trailer, then went to an electric corral. I use the Rv for one side of the corral and everyone in camp gets a kick out of Star putting his head in my window to beg for treats, LOL... Someday I'll upgrade my horse trailer and probably will get a hi tie then...saves the work of putting up and taking down the corral. What do you eat for breakfast? I had to survive on 2 hard boiled eggs and some water... which, I don't doubt is more than some people get! Depends... Usually I have a hard time having breakfast. When I was roughing it, I'd keep some made up sandwiches in my cooler, along with yogurt and some protein bars. Now I keep stuff in the fridge that I can pop in the microwave.. spoiled brat, aren't I?? What do you pack for snacks? Are there any particular brands of anything that are especially helpful and/or filling? I go for protein bars.. usually whatever's on sale! I watch at the store and buy a bunch when they are on special. Power Bars now have come up with a bite size snack in a bag.. pretty handy to pop in your mouth... chris I'm sure I'll come up with more questions later, lol..
