RE: [RC] [RC-Digest] Info on Ansata Ibn Halilma Get - Marlene Moss

One of the horses that Jeremy Reynolds is riding is from Ansata Ibn
Halima, through Ansata Ibn Sudan (he's named after him). He came from a
show barn and would have been destined for the show ring if he wasn't
too calm for that. This barn is now surprised to find that 3 of their
horses are in the endurance world and are looking at competing
themselves.

I know his breeder since I owned Sudan from age 1.5 to 4 and I knew he
was destined for greatness - and that he wouldn't get there with me.
His sire is from the Ansata line and was chosen for calm behavior and
general good attitude.

I don't know much more about Sudan's trail behavior since I only ever
did a 15 mile clinic on him. I did do his initial training and I know
he hated the arena with a passion and just loved the trail. But I have
heard that he doesn't tire much before 70 miles! While I was riding
him, he was the sort of horse you just point where you want to go, ask
for a gait and a speed and he just stayed there, no matter what the
terrain.

He's got decent bone (more from his mom's side), but I think his dad's
side has pretty dense bone as well.

His breeders are Kathy and Steve Raider of Colorado Springs and their
website is www.alzarkaarabians.com. They have a discovery farm and love
to talk about the strains they are involved with. Check out their
Ansata Nile Sheik babies. There is a 2002 full brother to Sudan that
I'd be looking at if I didn't have 7 horses on my property already!

Of course things aren't perfect, perfect doesn't exist on this earth.
Doesn't mean we won't go on trying to get better at what we do. Besides, if
everything was perfect today, what would you do tomorrow? Slamming each
other doesn't get anything done.
