[RC] Delusional riding - Howard Bramhall

I've reached a serious conclusion in life (OMG, here he goes again; what whacko thing is he going to say now?) concerning all of this, Chip, and that conclusion is this. After all my years on this planet, in this life (my current one), 50 and 3/4 years so far, I'm starting to believe that those of us who are true horse lovers, those of us who have completely and totally lost it when it comes to our horses, those of us who give up what most fellow humans would call a "normal life" so we can do what we must with this incredibly special creature, we, at one time, in our past lives, used to be a horse ourselves. I feel it's the only logical answer that makes any sense.

Take a look at a "dog" person. ONe whe loves dogs to the point where it's a bit absurd, even to us "horse nuts." Same with a "cat" person. You know, the old lady who lives down the block and has 200 cats. How on earth would anyone let themselves get that whacko over a creature who could care less about their caregiver? Well, I think I actually have the answer to that question.

My answer to all of this is the following: that dog person used to be a dog, in a previous life. The cat lady used to be a feline; in a past life. And, brace yourselves fellow horse lovers, we used to be a horse, eons and eons ago (or, for ancient folks like Bob Morris, he was a horse in his previous life, the one just before God decided to let him be human). Bob's current life seems to have run the course of several of mine (in human form).

It's the only thing that makes any sense at all to me. It's why we respond to them the way we do and, it's why we allow them to take over our current life completely. We give, they take. The reason we do this is because we used to be exactly like them; they, one day, will be exactly like us. It's the only logical explanation possible.

cya,
Howard (neigh, I say, to any disbelievers)

Like Howard, I am always on a horse in my mind. It's been that way since I
was a kid. When I'm driving down the road, I am imagining riding down the
shoulder. When I go into Target, I think how funny it would be if I rode my horse
in there. Even if I've ridden 4 or 5 horses in a day, I can be driving past
a local park, see people riding, and think "Ahhhhh, I wish I was doing that!"
I wonder how many people like us end up in endurance.

I still prefer what it is that BH100, Tevis, The Duck's Soup of Endurance,
etc. has to offer...but, to see a horse canter over sand for those
distances...Good Lord, it humbles me.
