[RC] Crewing & how to stay busy! - GarnerT

If you want to stay busy while waiting for your beloved to arrive, do what
my husband did at Cuyama XP:

1. Visit with everyone at the lunch stop
2. Organize my stuff so I could just ride in & plop
       down!
3. Have the lawn chair ready & my horse's food out.
4. Visit with everyone at the lunch stop.
5. Drink a beer with others at the lunch stop.
6. Help others while waiting for me (I'm not too
       fast.
7. Visit while drinking a beer.
8. Bring sandwiches & drinks to people you don't know.
9. Visit with the vets before the rush starts.
10. Check out possible spots for me to go - no
       port-a-pots here!
11. Visit some more...

Well, you get the picture. He kept himself very busy helping others, which
I think is really nice, and he helps me rest, relax, & he takes care of my
horse while I eat & drink. (not beer). BTW, he doesn't drink THAT much
beer!

Riding alone is when you teach a horse all the "tools" and "cues" he needs
to handle the trail, to hold a speed, deal with hills, etc. It's also where
you develop the "bond" that causes him to "defer" to you before losing his
cool.
