Re: [RC] MSM - Bette Lamore

You can get MSM in any horse feed store (or you can pay triple for it at the health food stores). Both are pure. The only difference is that the people ones come in capsules. I just start with 1/4 tsp/day for about a week, then move to 1/2 for the next week... until I level out at 1 tsp/day. The reason for the small dosage at first is that MSM not only helps with joint pain, but it is also a powerful detoxifier. If you take too fast, all your toxins that are being eliminated can make you feel sick at first. If you increase the dose gradually and drink lots of water ( and/or fruit juice-- not the sugary kind) you will be fine. I experienced a lot of energy and initially took it for my chronic fatigue syndrome. My son took it for his very bad case of acne in high school and the Beverly Hills skin doctor was amazed at how fast it worked. He initially attributed it to the antibiotic he prescribed until I pointed out I had not filled the Rx yet as he had wanted me to wait for the results of the blood test first.
It has truly been a "miracle" drug for our family. Bunny had to stand in line to get it himself! Speaking of Bunny, he will be on HorseTV in either May or June!! We hope this doesn't go to his head. He is already demanding a dressing room like Hildago! :-)

PS Be careful if you have a high allergic reaction to sulfa drugs as it is a natural form of sulfur. Some people allergic to the prescription form have no reaction to MSM; however, it would be wise to go very slow and check with a Dr. if anyone has sulfur allergies.

A few weeks back a lady mentioned that she takes MSM for her tendonitis in her elbow.
I have it real bad in my right elbow, I blew it out putting up hay several years ago.
I've had 4 Cortisone shots, eletromagnetic therphy & I use a arm band all most all
of the time. As you can tell I've had a flare up again. I'm interested in trying this
if it will help. Please tell me how much to take & where I might go to find it.
You can email me privately if you want.
Thanks in advance, aching in Indiana

We are talking about all the tools we can use to keep our horses safe and
alive at the rides. Training/conditioning is one of the best tools
available. It makes us better horseman and women, it benefits our horses
and could quite possibly be the key to preventing most crashes.
