Re: [RC] snakes - heidiIn states that allow concealed, or open carry in the woods, a hand gun with the first round a shot shell works great on rattlesnakes. The other rounds work great on two legged snakes, if any are encountered. My brother carries what he calls a "snake load" in a couple of chambers of his handgun. It is a VERY fine shot and pretty much just shreds them. I agree--if you're going to shoot them, shot is the way to go instead of bullets. I have a wonderful old .410 shotgun that has killed its share of rattlesnakes--but I never seem to have it with me when I'm irrigating or riding. Hence I've killed a lot more with the ol' "whatever-rocks-and-sticks-are-on-hand" method over the years...
