I don't know about the rest of you but I only have
"balding loins" in the winter.  I think the winter
hair is softer and more fragile than the summer hair. 
It has been this way with every single horse I have
owned and every single saddle that I have used, that
is if I ride enough in the winter.  Once I have done a
whole body clip for the spring I won't see balding
again until winter hair comes in again.
