Re: [RC] [RC] First Time at Foxcatcher in Fair Hill - Flora Hillman
Title: Clear Stationery
Unfortunately, I had to cancel out of
Foxcatcher this year -- missing it for the first time since it was founded.
:-( Sadly, my pony had pulled his sacrum goofing off in the pasture (the
idiot), and he had to settle for the acupuncture and chiropractor thing,
plus rest, rather than enjoying a day-long trot through the beautiful rolling
pasturelands of Maryland. Really bummed because I love that
ride. (To brighten my mood I went foxhunting instead, and enjoyed
the beautiful rolling pasturelands of Northern Virginia while galloping
behind a fast moving pack of hounds.)
Nice to hear the trail was
"over-marked" this year -- I think that's a problem that has garnered complaints
in the past, although I never had a problem following the ribbons. Most
people are tempted to go too fast because the terrain is so agreeable to
galloping, and I've seen riders over-shoot the markings every year.
The management has always been wonderful and the vets are the
friendliest.
The terrain fools you -- it looks easy, but
with the constant rolling hills it takes a lot out of a horse. Wish they offered
a 50 in the fall, but they only offer a one-day 100. So... I'll save my
gas money and do the (local) Ft Valley 2-day 100 the following week
instead.
