I did something similar. I bought the merino fleece seatbelt covers on e-bay (a lot less than in the store). The tubes have velcro sewn into them for easy wrap around. I put a grommet at the end and looped a tie string through and tie them in place with that. The fleece is bulky at first but once you ride with it for a bit, it mashes down and conforms to the shape of your saddle/body.
