The issue with goosenecks and bed length is more one of hitting the cab when
turning sharply than stability.  The hitch point must be right above the
rear axle for proper towing.  Trailers with square noses will hit a short
bed cab on really sharp turns (like when parking).  There are 5th wheel
hitches made that will move back behind the axle when turning very sharp.
