Re: [RC] after gelding - Beth GunnWe had our now 13 year old gelded at close to 4 years of age. Took that long for second testicle to "drop". He was a well endowed colt and it took several months for all the edema to go away. Forced mild exercise several times a day and all the advise you have already received. Soreness and swelling do take time. Bigger equipment than our male dogs! :-) Beth Gunn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pam & Buddy's email" <shgerbey@xxxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, March 28, 2004 7:36 PM Subject: [RC] after gelding ----- Original Message ----- >I had my 17 month old gelded last Saturday. He was on an antibiotic for 5 days and an anti-inflammatory for 3. Everything was looking great until Tuesday and then he developed some swelling. Called the vet...came and checked him and found it was fluid. Said his body would eventually absorb it. Appetite is fine and he has no temperature. Seems a little sore when he is running around and playing. Is this the norm? Had 2 guys gelded a couple of years ago and one never had any signs of swelling or anything and the other got quite an infection. He was put on antibiotics after the infection was found. Any advice at all would be geatly appreciated.
