Re: [RC] Windpuffs - GoToryHi Beth- I have to agree with Kat here... my mare had an injury which caused similar symptoms. After a six weeks or more of conservative vet care and no riding, the "windpuffs" remained. No visible lameness, and all the "experts" - vet, farrier, etc, told me to just ride her, it's "just cosmetic"... I felt a slight difference in her rhythm that persisted and finally went to an ultrasound specialist, who found that by then she had developed scar tissue around a ligament tear. Six more weeks of treatment, stall rest, hand walking, Rxs- second ultrasound- things had not improved and we ended up in surgery. Our story did not have a happy ending. Follow your instincts and listen to your horse and your heart. I hope I will never again "wait and see" when I should have heard what my gut was telling me.
