Sounds like a great location to me. As for when to have the ride...I vote for sometime in the fall (November?). There are no rides in TX in Nov. except Lone Star. Of course, some coordination with OK rides may be necessary. Or perhaps early Dec. would work. If the footing is good (not boggy after a rainy winter), Jan. - March might be good - not many TX rides during that period.
I too vote for a fall ride. We have one in 2005 at the beginning of Jan, beginning of Feb and usually several in March. My favorite ride is in mid April but there maybe other April dates available now. I have not yet heard if Amadillo (3rd week in Oct) is going to happen yet. The only other two Tx rides are Lone Star (end Nov) and Ft Worth Skyline (Oct). There are a couple of good OK rides during the fall.
