[RC] zilco alteration - Julie Fuller

I don't think anyone has mentioned this, so I will..... sorry if it's a repeat.

Altering biothane or nylon equipment is really easy with a cheap soldering iron. I've kept one around for years for just this purpose.

Another hint: If you want to convert plastic 55 gallon barrels into muck buckets, or water tubs, you can easily put holes through the sides for handles using a calf(or goat) de-horning iron. Works like a charm! Also.... (Gosh, I'm full of hints this morning!) If you cut a plastic barrel in half lengthwise, and put a longer rope through two holes in one edge, you can use it as a skid..... works very well for dragging barkdust, dirt, manure, kids, whatever.

You can haul it behind an ATV or lawn mower, haul it yourself, or do like I do... hitch a pony to it! We used to tie three half tubs together, hitch it to a pony and use it for cleaning stalls. The pony learned to stand in the aisle while we forked , and to stand in the field or garden while we dumped the skids. This was a godsend as it was always so muddy in the winter it was very difficult to push a wheelbarrow.

Work smarter, not harder!

Julie
