Re: [RC] Some Folks Don't Speak Arabian - oddfarmI rode with a guy once, (a real anal pore so I cut the ride real short) and he bragged about being a trainer. He said he USED to train Arabians but they were too stupid. He said now he trains Quarter Horses. I said," Hell, anybody can ride a QH. And besides, a real horseman can ride anything." I am sure the Arabians and the QH's were probably smarter than he will ever be. A horse we have now came to us with a bad rep. He was a "real S.O.B. Don't turn your back on him, he will kick you every time!", is what they said. Turns out he was also much smarter than them. He has been wonderful. I don't know what the heck they were talking about. I love every breed of horse for different reasons. I am proud of my Arabs intelligence, personality, humor and yes, sometimes attitude. I am grateful for what they have taught ME! I may not be the best horsewoman, but I ride the best kind of horses. He's had a 5 year old filly to train for this lady for 2 years. She still can't ride her! She's a great filly, but they expect "perfection" from her at all times and never allow her to be an Arab (horse). Subsequently she is never "ready" to have her owner on top. I wonder how much of her spirit and personality they must remove before the owner will be willing to climb on board? I feel so sorry for this mare. She'd LOVE endurance and by her looks she's probably heavily CMK. Karen ============================================================ There are 2 ways to win at this sport.
