[RC] Temperature Guns - Ridecamp Guest

Anybody use a temperature gun to pinpoint heat in your horse's legs, back,
hooves, wherever?

For example: http://tinyurl.com/28rst

I'm just wondering if something like this would be useful, or just a waste of
money. Not as a substitute for knowing my horse or running my hands over him,
but as a supplemental source of information when I *think* there might be heat
in a certain area, but I'm not certain.

I think one of my biggest concerns would be how accurate it is. Like can it
detect a temperature difference of 1/2 degree or whatever might be appropriate.

Last year at BSF, one of the vets had a thermal digital camera. That was
awesome, but also way out of my price range!

I'd especially like to hear from anybody that uses (or has used) such a tool.
If you haven't and wouldn't, I can pretty much guess your response. I've been
reading Ridecamp a long time.

Thanks for the helpful responses.

===========================================================Just because someone
tells you that your horse isn't "fit" for
endurance...doesn't mean it isn't, it just means your horse isn't fit to be
"their" endurance horse! Go for it, you never know what you'll accomplish
with that "saddle horse" or "trail horse" of YOURS!
