Re: [RC] GRRRR a little vent... - heidiAnyway, after going over this little jump a million times, my daughters Arab, who was not ever an enthusiastic jumper said enough and started to run out. The instructor insisted she keep at it, and when the mare tried to run out, and waved her arms at her, sending her right into the jump standard, where horse and rider went tumbling to the ground. What so many of these so-called "trainers" do not understand is that the Arabs "get it" after just a couple of reps, and after that, the repetition is just a mental torture. The horse is ready to move on, and can't figure out why the rider won't let it. Too bad the "trainers" aren't as smart as the horses! Heidi ============================================================ The very essence of our sport is doing the trail as quickly as practicable, while keeping one's horse fit to continue. Taking the clock out of the equation makes it another sport altogether. The challenge is how to keep the sport what it is while honing our skills (both as riders and as those in control roles) in detecting where "the edge" is for each horse so that we don't cross it. ~ Heidi Smith ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ============================================================
