[RC] Gaited Horse advice - k s swigart

I've got a TWH mare and am
interested in getting into endurance riding....
Is there anything unique I should know?

Tell the vet that you have a gaited horse and it may not trot the way
s/he expects. I don't know enough about Walkers to know if they "trot
out." But having ridden other gaited horses (Paso Fino, Icelandic,
MFT), I can tell you that it helps to tell the vet in
advance....although most of them can tell anyway :).

Lots of people do endurance on gaited horses, including Tennesee Walking
Horses.

Just because someone tells you that your horse isn't "fit" for
endurance...doesn't mean it isn't, it just means your horse isn't fit to be
"their" endurance horse! Go for it, you never know what you'll accomplish
with that "saddle horse" or "trail horse" of YOURS!
