Re: [RC] FEI WEC 2004/05 - Barbara McCrarySomeone once called us offering to buy Lud's horse Kunyak HCC, when this person saw the results of Kunyak's winning and BC-ing all 5 days of a multi-day ride in 1992. At the time of the first call I didn't know what was going on, but before the second call, I had contacted Courtney Hart (who knew about these things) and he told me the Arabs were buying up horses with outstanding records. At the second phone call, I told the caller that we simply couldn't part with Kunyak, as he was part of the family. I'll bet that man thought we were nuts! It is really hard to turn down hundreds of thousands of dollars for a horse that you bought for $4,000, put $2,000 into and have had loads of fun riding for five years. I really have to thank Marcia Smith for her insights about FEI and racing out-of-states that help me not to take the offer.... and Michele for wanting to perform rather than just take the gold ring.... I know this is a stupid business decision, but sometimes you just have to watch the sun sets...
