RE: [RC] 1000 mile horses a dime a dozen? - David LeBlancThat's really interesting. I'd have never guessed that there would be more horses make 1000 miles than riders. Thanks for the figures! Do you know how many different horses and riders there have been? -----Original Message----- From: ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Bob Morris Sent: Sunday, March 07, 2004 6:51 PM To: 'David LeBlanc'; 'Michael Maul'; 'ridecamp' Subject: RE: [RC] 1000 mile horses a dime a dozen? OK as near as I can tell from a look at the horse and rider awards, i.e. medallions awarded, the following is how it stands as of this date. Heidi recently said that 1000 mile horses were fairly common. I'd dispute the dime a dozen bit - that's 20 50's which amounts to over $1200 in ride fees alone! But it did make me curious - how many horses make it to 1000 miles? 2000? What proportion of riders make it to 1000 miles? I've found the columns on various statistics of our group interesting, and this is something I'd like to know. ============================================================ I still prefer what it is that BH100, Tevis, The Duck's Soup of Endurance, etc. has to offer...but, to see a horse canter over sand for those distances...Good Lord, it humbles me. ~ Frank Solano ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ============================================================ ==================== The air of heaven is that which blows between a horse`s ears. ~ Arabian Proverb ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ==================== ============================================================ There is no better way to see the world than from the back of a horse. ~ Teddy Roosevelt ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ============================================================
