Re: [RC] Egyptian Escapades>Equestrian Vacations - John Teeter

I ran in to these a while ago.

2004 Brazil Challenge
http://www.endurance.net/channels/news.html#107749217220626628

and

2004 Mongolian Camel Challenge
http://www.endurance.net/channels/news.html#107749080941274510

The second one sounds particularly interesting - 5 days in the Gobi Desert
on 2 hump Bactrain camels ...

Lari Shea's horse-vacations, http://www.horse-vacation.com/ as she does treks
with endurance folks in mind.

(word is from Egypt that planning for a 5 day ride from Abu Sir to Sharm al Sheik
in mid November is in the works too....sigh.)

As for me, I'll be glad to get home and ride a bit of owyhee county again:)
-- steph arrives LAX tomorrow -- Jackie, Tracy, and Merri are scheduled back on
the 7th -- but it sounds like Merri may be drawn toward Greece -- time will tell.....

Jackie,

There is a company that offers vacations with horses.....

My husband and I have gotten their "catalog" and have long dreamt of doing one of their vacations..... Imagine riding on the beach in Greece, or staying in a castle in Scotland or Ireland and riding all day! Sheesh! This is the stuff of dreams!

They have reasonable prices (most range from $1400 to 2500 per person+ airfare) for four to ten day stays in most countries. They offer training clinics in various disciplines, and offer english or western tack. Along with the abov mentioned countries, they also have vacations in Italy, New Zealand, England, Morrocco, Costa Rica, and Mexico, Spain and France. There are some in the states too.

The vacation that Alan and I want to take is in Scotland (Alan is Scot) and it includes horsebackriding, golfing, shooting and falconry! It's one of the more expensive vacations, but I think it's be a blast!

Something to dream about, when you aren't dreamiing of a new trailer, a new saddle, or just 5 days of nice weather!

We are talking about all the tools we can use to keep our horses safe and
alive at the rides. Training/conditioning is one of the best tools
available. It makes us better horseman and women, it benefits our horses
and could quite possibly be the key to preventing most crashes.
