[RC] Allergies - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Sheila Larsen Sheila_Larsen@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== My horse has allergies to a lot of things, flies, no-seemums, oak pollen (great I live by Auburn), alfafa pollen, and a bunch of other things. Is your horse allergic to alfafa or the pollen. A friend of mine also had a horse with allergies. They both are on shots, don't get your hopes up to high. We haven't found that the shots completely remove the itchiness but they do help considerably. My mare itches her mane and tail, what I have found help relieve those symptoms when they are their worst is to take an ice cube and rub the underside of the tail with the ice cube. She loves it and it will reduce the itching considerably. Also keep her mane and tail clean. I also put Desitin on the skin under her tail and that also seems to relieve the itching. Good luck. ===========================================================Riding alone is when you teach a horse all the "tools" and "cues" he needs to handle the trail, to hold a speed, deal with hills, etc. It's also where you develop the "bond" that causes him to "defer" to you before losing his cool. ~ Jim Holland ridecamp.net information: http://www.endurance.net/ridecamp/ ===========================================================
