Don't forget to look at the shape the horses mouth and where the tongue is set. My Morgan mare has a very shallow mouth and she can get her tongue over most bits. I went to a bit much like the Mylar type and it works very well for her. It has a mouth piece like the Mylar bits but was not that brand and half the price.
