Re: [RC] Multi-day point to point? - Barbara McCraryI think the problem would be....where do you find people to do the driving? We didn't have a source of drivers for Applegate-Lassen. The only solution I've been able to come up with, which is less than ideal - but works - is to have a vehicle to shuttle you back to your rig so you can drive it to camp. If you had crew that could drive the truck, but not the rig, your crew could do that for you. Or if you brought a car, you could drop the car at the end point the night before. Certainly not a great solution, as it would probably take a minimum of 2 hours to go back and forth, and this isn't what I want to be doing while tired.I was really surprised to find out that other point-to-point multidays don't offer the service that we did when we put on Lost Wagon Train. We had a group of drivers and a shuttle rig, and charged people who needed rigs shuttled a fee for each day they used one of our drivers. Each night we worked out a driver schedule--some days we had to make two or three trips to get all the rigs moved, but we fed and housed the drivers and provided the shuttle rig, and the drivers made some $$$. I think we charged $25 per shuttle--so drivers made anywhere from $25 to $75 per day, and got fed and had an adventure. :-) We had some pretty capable people driving--some of them endurance riders themselves.
