One of my young horses started going into the stall to use it as his
bathroom.  There are only mats-no bedding.  What we did was make him a
nice pile of shavings outside and he started to use that instead.
Litter box trained!  He's older now but still likes that spot where the
chips were.  We've found that most horses don't like to be splashed.
Now they're using the gravel we put in some of the muddy spots.
