Re: [RC] torsion axles v.s. spring or others - Ed and Wendy HauserI've run both over the last 30 years. As I see it the differences are: 1. Spring axles cost a bit less. 2. Spring axles are less sensitive to hitch height. The evener makes up for some of the difference in height. 3. The spring shakles have to be greased. If not greased often enough springs and or shakles will break. Some are have rubber bushings which do not need to be greased, but in wet and salty climates rust can freeze the rubber bushings and things break. 4. Torsion axles are supposed to ride easier, but I have never ridden in a trailer so I don't know. The bottom line is that I prefer torsion, but would buy springs again if the price was right. I would definately look for greasable ones and pump grease in them two times a year. They will last forever if you do that. Ed.
